AI-Powered Whole-Test Analysis for Short Answer Questions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At Innovation Assessments, we believe that AI should support \u2014 not replace \u2014 teacher judgment. Today, we&#8217;re introducing a new optional tool that does just that: an AI-powered performance analysis of a student\u2019s <strong>entire short-answer test<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This feature is now available as part of your scoring tools for any test using the test app!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How It Works<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a student has completed a test \u2014 and all short-answer items have been scored (manually, with AI, or both) \u2014 teachers can now run a full-test analysis with the click of a button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system sends the following to GPT-4:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Every short-answer question<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student\u2019s response and earned credit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Model answers provided by the teacher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overall test and item statistics (averages, medians, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optional teacher instructions (e.g., &#8220;Focus on grammar and cohesion&#8221;)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI guidance settings (grade level, language, writing style, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The result? A cohesive analysis of the student\u2019s overall performance that you can use to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spot learning gaps or misconceptions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suggest next steps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generate report card comments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guide parent-teacher conferences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Stay in Control<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers can provide <strong>optional instructions<\/strong> before running the analysis. Want the AI to focus on organization? Fluency? Compare to class trends? Just add that guidance \u2014 the AI will listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything is transparent: what the AI sees, what it says, and how it got there. You can read, copy, and even edit the AI\u2019s report if you choose to share it with the student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Word on Ethics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We deliberately chose <strong>not<\/strong> to automate this process behind the scenes. You must <strong>manually request<\/strong> the full analysis \u2014 so that this remains a <strong>teaching support tool<\/strong>, not a replacement for your judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, we hope the few extra seconds it takes to run the tool encourages thoughtful engagement rather than AI overuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Available Now<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To try it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Score all short-answer items on a test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the test analysis screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Run AI Analysis<\/strong> next to a student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for the modal to load \u2014 then read, reflect, and decide how to use the feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope this helps deepen your understanding of student performance \u2014 and supports the kind of teaching that AI can never replace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, questions or feedback welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014The Innovation Assessments Team (which is basically just me, D.
